Yellowstone is unique in the world as it is by far
the world’s most known super volcano and it has an amazing array of
volcanic features including: geysers, hot pots (boiling pots of mud),
hot springs, lakes and wildlife. Yellowstone’s lesser known attractions
include the rivers which are popular among fishermen and although most
of Yellowstone is geysers and mountains there are also some canyons and
lakes as well which are just as popular for hiking as the mountains. The
wilderness areas of the park supports much wildlife, in the parks
2.2million acres there are over 8,000 elk, over 1,500 bison and hundreds
of deer not forgetting the moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats,
pronghorn antelope, wild horses, black bears, grizzly bears, wolves,
coyotes, and many species of bird, fish and thousands of species of
insect. Apart from its wildlife and its mere 10,000+ volcanic feature
the main attraction is walking, the majority of walkers opting for a
lake side walk on lake Yellowstone and many others. The main wildlife
attraction is the wild horses of Pryor’s Mountain Wild Horse Range which
contains around 160 horses.
